The museum was opened on 15 December 1991, when the firefighters celebrated their 65th anniversary.
Ainaži, this small seaside and border town, has been home to the Ainaži Volunteer Fire Fighters' Association for 96 years. Its members not only fight fire disasters, but also preserve their traditions. The work of Ainaži firefighters since the beginning of the association can be found in the Ainaži Firefighting Museum. The museum was opened on 15 December 1991, when the firefighters celebrated their 65th anniversary. The museum's exhibition "Bright buttons, helmets" displays photographs and descriptions of the firefighters' work from the first founding meeting. There are also photographs of firefighter training, sports competitions and celebrations, restored hand pumps, engine pumps, hand sirens and the beautiful and shiny flag pins. The museum also displays the fire engines and equipment parked in the adjacent fire station.
