Lamprey day in Salacgriva and Svetciems
‼️ POSTPONED TO 21ST OF OCTOBER ‼️ On 21 October, the traditional Lamprey Day will be celebrated in Salacgrīva and Svētciems.
It is a day when lamprey fishermen are invited to come and share their stories about lamprey fishing and the life of fishermen on the weir, as well as stories about how the weir is made from spruce wood that has been prepared for years. On this beautiful autumn Saturday, visitors are treated with lamprey soup, as well as charcoal-baked lampreys and other delicacies with the lamprey as the main ingredient. In addition to learning about the trade of lamprey fishing, both young and old are offered various creative and entertaining activities at the event places, meetings with entrepreneurs of Limbaži municipality at the forum - market "Entrepreneurs' Quartal 2023". Sports enthusiasts are invited to take part in the traditional "Lamprey Cross" race.
In addition to the events of the Lamprey Day, for the first year within the framework of the Lamprey Day there will be an opportunity to meet with the representatives of the association "Fishing Club "SALACKRASTI"" and to explore the values of the Salaca River and visit the Salmon weir.
