Lighthouse in the centre of Ainaži

The lighthouse used to be on a wave breaker - it was built in 1926. The tower was 6.4 metres high and the height of the light was 8.1 metres above sea level.
The lighthouse fell into the sea during a storm in December 1986, partially collapsing the underwater part of the breakwater. A few enterprising men had the idea to raise it from the bottom of the sea to install it in the centre of Ainaži as a signpost to the Ainaži Maritime School Museum.
