Rīgas Street is the only paved street in Salacgrīva and has always played an important role in the social and cultural life of the town and beyond.
It was home to all the buildings of public importance. From the bridge and the shop to the town hall and then the city council building. The houses and their fates on Riga Street mark a bright page in the history of Salacgrīva.
The house at 6 Rīgas Street is proud of the fact that the Old Pharmacy, founded in 1880, still operates here to this day. The red brick house, like most of the old buildings on this street, was built in the 19th century. It was previously owned by the Baron Fēgezak family of the Svētciems manor.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Riga Street 5 was home to one of Salacgrīva's proudest shops - Jirgensons' Store. It was written on the shop sign, but it was also called Emilia Lūsis's shop, because Emilia ran it together with her brother, businessman Jānis Jirgensons.

A fishing boat donated to the town by fisherman Visvaldis Šrenks in November 2006 is on display at 10 Rīgas Street, Salacgrīva. European Union regulations prevent our fishermen from developing their fishing industry. On the contrary, it has to be reduced. Visvaldis had a choice: give the boat to the city for non-profit use outside the fishery or give it to be scrapped. Visvaldis chose the first option.
