Veide Castle

Veide Castle was built in 1902. It was built by a ship owner and captain Mārtiņš Veide - representative of the most influential family of Ainaži town at that time. The building today is one of the most visible in Ainaži.

It was used as a family home for the Veide family, who were important in the region's shipbuilding and sailing industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Veide Castle complex also includes a barn and a former servant's house, which now is a museum of the Ainaži Naval School. Veide Castle is an important European cultural heritage site.
